New BDU Bag for a friend.

My friend gave me a shirt her husband wore in the Army about 17 years ago and she wanted a bag made from it. This is the end result and she is very happy with it. I put the left over pockets from the bottom of the shirt inside and lined it with a green print. The top fabric is a Joel Dewberry print.

More Zippy Wallets

This is number four for Zippy Wallets/Change Purse. These are so easy to make. They measure 4.5 x 4.5 and the handle is about five inches open. I love snowmen and picked this one up at Cracker Barrel last weekend. These are going to be for sale on my website www.sugarplumplace.com soon.

Cross Stitch Finally Finished

Not a very good picture, but it is DONE. I started this in 1997 when I purchased it at a cross stitch convention in California, now I go to quilt shows. I have to take it to get framed this weekend. This piece is on a checkered dish cloth. This was done on 28 count even weave, single thread over two.

More Oven Mitts

I was up late last night and made these three oven mitts. I was on a roll, they go pretty fast. I used some left over crumb blocks for the backs. These are all from my stash.

Scrappy Oven Mitt

I made this oven mitt when I got home from work today. I just dug out the Insulbright (??), some two inch scrap strips and another scrap fabric for the inside. The strips were great for a quilt as you go method. I contemplated just using plain fabric on the back side, but I was on a roll sewing the strips down. The directions are from www.skiptomylou.org . Just click on the picture if you want a close up view.

Posted by PicasaThis was a tutorial on http:noodleheads.blogspot.com called Zippy Wallet. I added the strap. This was a practice one to see if I could do it and/or like the finished product. There is also a front pocket, that is where I have the buttons. I used a sew-in snap, but probably next time will use a snap (the pound in kind). These could be used as holiday gifts with gift cards inside.

Whistlepig Creek Charming Totes #

I started this bag at retreat last week and finished it up tonight. It did not have a closure, so I added one and I put it together a little different than the directions. The cuff at the top gives it a finished look. I am happy with it.

Circa 1997 Quilt Top Done

I took this to retreat with me. All the blocks were done, I just had to add the corner, side triangles and sew the rows together. This was paper pieced and it was started at a quilt retreat in Big Bear, California. The class was taught by Beverly Dunivent and this is her pattern called Beverly's Forest. I hope to quilt it soon. It only took 12 years to get this top done.

Popcorn Zipper Pouch

This little bag is made from the book Big Bags Little Bags by Atkinson Designs. I changed it up a little by adding a handle and buttons to my yo-yo. I can never get my yo-yo centers to look good, not like the pictures anyway, so a button covers the mistakes. Yes, I used the Clover yo-yo maker and still ugly. Not to worry, I have a lot of buttons to cover my yo-yo holes.

Labor Day Weekend

I finally finished this top I had made about four years ago. It is 39"x51". I just did some simple free motion quilting on it and used left over scrappy binding as well. It was a little wonky, but I just quilted the heck out of it. Off to sew at a friends house today.
